Amanda Ballantyne

As a life long lover of Camp Unistar, I’m delighted to join the board of directors.  I first attended camp as a kid with my family in the late 1980’s, in high school, I attended both Youth Week and Work Week, then served on staff when I was in college.  Now, as an adult, I love bringing my own family to the island every summer, a week that my children look forward to all year long.

I’m currently a senior fellow at New America and a visiting scholar at the MIT Center for Inequality and Shaping the Future of Work.  In these roles, I spend a lot of time thinking and writing about AI, automation, and job quality.  I’ve spent my career as an organizer and nonprofit leader focused on public policy that supports economic and social justice.

I currently live in Maryland with my partner and our two elementary school aged kiddos.
